AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) plays as a striker. She also is captain of San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the top division of women's soccer in the United States. From 2018 until 2020, she captained America's women's national soccer soccer team along with Megan Rapinoe. [8][9The 9 Morgan was picked as number one in the Western New York Flash's 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she had graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. The team made her debut in professional football and assisted the team in winning the league championship. Morgan was just 22 at the time and the youngest player in the national team at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. At the 2012 London Olympics Morgan scored the match-winning goal the 123rd minute in the semi-final match against Canada. She was the second player in the U.S. to score 20 goals and 21 assists in 2012, which makes her the most youthful and sixth-highest prolific athlete in the nation to achieve 20 goals in one year. The following year, she was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year and was also a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan was also instrumental in helping the United States win their titles at the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, in which she was selected to the Dream Team for both tournaments, while she won the Silver Boot in 2019.
